Lucky Dip Week 165

As March is another five Saturday month, we have the additional
Lucky Dip Challenge.
It also means that we have a Guest Designer, which this month is
LTC
The theme for your cards this week is
ROUND and ROUND
You may interpret this as you wish, but we must be able to recognise the connection!
Jan is a faithful LIMette, submitting wonderful cards each week and leaving comments for many other participants.
Thank you for your dedication to our challenge Jan!
Here she has used circles as part of her Zentangling technique.
Do please visit her blog and leave a cheery comment!

Back from a fabulous holiday in Australia, with profuse apologies for my lack of commenting over the last few weeks, but accessing WiFi wasn't always easy!
At this point I would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution given by Anne whilst I was away. She made sample cards for each challenge and was tireless in her commenting on submissions!
THANK YOU ANNE!
It is greatly appreciated by me and also I'm sure by all the people whose blogs she visited!
A simple card from a couple of dies purchased from Simon Says Stamp!
With intricate dies like these, I add some double sided tape to the back of the card before running it through my Cuttlebug. Then all I have to do once the card is die-cut, is to peel and press!
I love to add frames to highlight images. Here I used a circular Nestie to cut this frame for an emboss resist Stampin' Up image. The sentiment is also from SU!
There are a few more cards on my personal blog!

Jen

firstly, I'm sorry I never managed a card last week due to one thing or another.  hope this week goes to plan.
This weeks card uses fabulous stamps from Clearly Besotted as well as one of the new word dies. I have used shadow inks for the circles and they give a lovely finish.

Thank you so much all those people who left comments for fellow participants last week, it would be great if you could do it again this time, even though it's not part of the challenge... it's just a lovely thing to do for others!
So... let's see what round and round means to you!

Week 164 Recipe

Our recipe this week has two parts!
Firstly we'd like to see
THREE
of something on your cards
PLUS
We'd like you to visit and comment on three other participants, hopefully ones you haven't visited before!

Jen

Coming Soon - Sorry Crazy week got on top of me.....

Chrissie

Here we have three chickens.
Those who know me of old, know how I love these Penny Black Chickens. This one is to sell at my choir where I know a few people will find it amusing!
The sentiment reads... "Knowing their re-auditions were looming, the altos thought they'd better practise!"
This is a technique which I love to do. Emboss resist leaves stamped with Distress ink and clear embossed, with the rest of the card inked and splatter stamped, then cut with Nesties and triple clear embossed. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up. Three leaves, three panels!

Anne

Anne is joining us again this week and has been busy making not one but three cards...

Showcase Week 162 Spring Flowers OLC

Showcase Week 162 Spring Flowers OLC
There were some fabulous creations for our one layer week and as always there were loads of fabulous submissions, making the selection process extremely difficult.
We're sure you'll think that our choices are rather spectacular!

With so many wonderful submissions it was difficult to limit the selection to just three!
Congratulations ladies!

Week 163 Theme

As ever on the third Saturday of each month we have a theme for you.
This time it is for you to use
MASKING OR STENCILLING
on your creations.
It seems that stencilling is de rigeur at the moment, so let's see what you can do.
If you don't have any stencils you could use your dies or punches to make a stencil from card or acetate.... or you could simply choose to included some masking of some description in your work.

Chrissie

Here is a little card using a stencil I made from a font called Peoni Patterns. which is free from Dafont.
I used the flower which is in fact the letter 'A'.
I cut the stencil from acetate using my Silhouette. I inked through it using two shades of green Distress Ink using sponge daubers and then rotated the stencil through 90 degrees and inked again using the orange colours.
The little gecko was a download from here. All trails I followed left by our fabulous LIMette Hannelie!
The sentiment is from Tattered Lace.
Here's another simple stencil, again cut from acetate by my Silhouette. I inked in two shades of purple and then overstamped with a manuscript stamp.
The sentiment is from Penny Black!

Jen

Just one card from me this week as work has been a bit manic and the second card went disastrously wrong ... beyond salvage :-) I chose to use masks and embossing paste for this weeks challenge...

I used the same technique to colour the embossing paste that you can see here on this card and used the same colour as the card stock .. Stampin Up Strawberry Slush.  The happy birthday die is from simon says stamp and the mask from calico studio.  I love the tone on tone of the paste on the card stock!

Anne

Anne has another fabulous example for us this week .. make sure you pop over and say hello...

Week 162 One Layer Card

We are back to One Layer Week again!
Occasionally, we get submissions which don't always adhere to our idea of a one layer card... if you are in  doubt, please check with our Guidelines which are printed at the top of our blog.
The week the subject of your
One Layer Card
should be
Spring Flowers

Jen

Just one card from me this week... although i had made two one went a little wrong and I didn't have the time to re-make.  For this card I used a stamp with a favourite spring flower.. the Iris.  I simply coloured the stamp with markers then stamped it onto pale grey card. The sentiment is from the same Stampin Up Set.

Chrissie
A quick word from Australia
We are having an amazing time and although I may not have chance to comment in all your fabulous cards, I'm peeking whenever I can. This week's submissions so far are AMAZING, I am SO impressed !

This is a digi image from Fred She Said, coloured with Distress Inks and watercolours using a water brush, with a computer generated sentiment in Andalus and Passions Conflict fonts.
I'm sorry the picture is so dreadful, it's very hit and miss with me as to whether I get a decent picture... despite Picasa editing!

My second card has an embossed  tulip border which I coloured lightly with Promarkers and gently twinkled with Glamour Dust. I think it's a Craft Too die bought at Ally Pally some time ago!
The sentiment says Debbie Moore on the side of the stamp. I positioned it using a rectangular piece of acetate from some packaging and a right angle corner made from some Duplo! A do-it-yourself Stampamajig!

Anne

Anne has made two fabulous cards for us again this make... make sure you pop over and say hello...

Week 161 - Colour

For our colour challenge this month we have chosen real Spring colours
YELLOWGREEN
LIMettes always come up with such imaginative creations... we can't wait to see what appears!

Don't forget to keep it Clean and Simple and remember that white space!
This week's challenge does not necessarily have to be a one layer card, although we are always  happy to see them in any of our challenges.

Jen

I have a couple of cards for you today using the same ingredients, this is a fabulous stamp from Stampin Up called Blessed Easter and I have simply stamped it onto watercolour card and then coloured them in using Stampin Up Re-Inkers. I've stitched them using my trusty sewing machine.  I also made them in a couple of other colour ways and you can see these later in the week on my blog.

The use of this week's colours in this card is subtle to say the least! The delicate daisies were stamped and masked and a second stamping applied.
The colouring was done using Iced Spruce Distress Ink and a water brush with  a couple of Copics used for additional shading. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. There is a little yellow in the centre of the daisies ... honest!

This one is a digi image from Fred She Said. It's coloured with Copics and the sentiment was computer generated using Pea Roxygirl font. The border was cut with a Fiskars border punch.
