Week 23 - One Layer

It's Saturday once more and as usual our thanks for all your participation last week. you certainly seemed to enjoy 'Shades of Blue' we thoroughly enjoyed looking at them.
These ONE LAYER CARD challenges
seem to come around so quickly and here we are once more with another. Many LIMettes are now much more comfortable with this type of CAS card and each month we have some stunning contributions.
For our challenge today we would like to see
SOMETHING WITH LEGS
This should give you plenty of scope, but please don't forget that we still need to see areas of white space and minimal embellishments on your entries.

Regular LIMettes will recognise this favourite, sponged background technique of mine.
I masked the card with post-its and added the green, amethyst and blue inks with sponge daubers.
The tree (from Indigo Blu) was stamped twice,  a second impression  (I stamped on scrap first) over the masking and slightly to the right, then again with fresh ink once the mask had been removed.
When I first bought the stamp set it wasn't obvious what the tiny stamp was, but as you can see here quite clearly, it's a bird. That, together with the ones in the branches are the source of the legs in this card.
This second card also uses image stamps from Indigo Blu. I stamped this adorable teddy on scrap, and made a mask, then stamped him on the card and used the mask to add the music manuscript, apparently behind him. The tiny sentiment is a clear stamp from the Wild Rose Studio.
The legs for this card are implicit... you can't see any... but you know that a teddy wouldn't be a teddy without them, so in effect he is  'Something with legs'

Mandi

For my first card I have chosen this FAB stamp, but, I have no idea whose it is! Maybe someone will?
I printed the Birthday wishes on the computer in Young Love font and then coloured with watercolour pencils.

My second card is one of my favourite stamps. It;s an old one by Anita;s i love this horse! Didn't do anything except a little grey watercolouring!

Hope you have fun with this one be as creative as you like!
Happy crafting and don't forget

Week 22 - Colour

Welcome back, it's great to see that our LIMettes were so much happier last week, with 250 entries for sketch week
All is good in LIMette towers!
Here we are in the first week of a new month and our challenge once more is
COLOUR
For our challenge this week we would like to see you use
SHADES of BLUE
You can use a white card base, but we do want to see more than one colour of blue, not just one!

We are sponsored this month by the fabulous
are offfering a whopping $25 to the winner to spend in their shop
Do go check out their fabulous digital images

i made a DL [double length] card and cut 6 strips of different blue card, embossed in different patterns and stuck to the bottom of the card. then added the rhinestone bling. [but here]
Sorry completely no skill, but, we have our cards all prepared well in advance and I suddenly realised at a very late hour I had missed this week!! Having said that, I'm not a inky finger get in a mess crafter, so prefer this type of card! I leave all the skill to my fabulous partner.....
OK, I felt bad to just submit that one, so made this. All using Stampin Up Products [but from me here]
Card base Night of Navy, Bird on a Branch stamp set in Night of Navy, the 'blossom' is stamped in Marina Mist. I added the tiny punched flowers and pearls, also using Not Quite Navy card too

Click to see closer dimension of the flowers

To make this card
  • I began by stamping the 'JOIE' and large flourish with Versamark and embossing with clear embossing powder.
  • Then I  inked the rectangle of card with Bashful Blue ink using a sponge dauber.
  • Next I stamped the splodges using Versamark and then clear embossed again.
  • The butterflies were stamped with Stormy Sky DI and embossed
  • More inks in various shades of blue were daubed in and around the images .
  • I then cut the rectangle into thirds and re-inked around the edges.
The stamps are from the SU Joie set and the sentiment is from Penny Black and mounted on dimensionals to match the matt of the image panels.

Week 21 - Sketch

It was a bit like the acetate week don't you think?
It seems like we caused a few headaches around the globe this last week, with many LIMettes not quite getting the essence of what a monogram was all about, but having a go nevertheless, for which we thank you all. SO we think the score to date should be LIMettes 18 v Divas 2
Our challenge this week is a
SKETCH
This is only the second time that we have had a sketch for one of our challenges. Once more it's very simple, but  hey, that's what our challenge is all about... and it could be interpreted in a variety of ways.
Your card doesn't have to be exactly this shape and the elements don't have to be circular, but the basic sketch should be recognisable.
Chrissie

This primitive looking design uses Quickutz dies to make these funky looking chickens.. I love chickens. You can see a couple who reside in my kitchen on my blog!
They were lightly inked and mounted on Coredinations papers, which were scored and sanded at the edges. The ribbon was rescued from a gift from my daughter-in-law.
A little tip for flattening ribbons... I use my hair straighteners, they work really well.
The sentiment stamp is a favourite of mine from Stampin' Up.

For my first card I took the sketch literally.
Using my fav Stampin Up Circle Circus I stamped the large floral circles and cut them out using the corresponding circle punch, then set them aside to dry completely. The card base [15cm square] is Melon Mambo, I printed the sentiment on the computer using Agatha font here in black. I cut a panel from a Cuttlebug dots die and trimmed to approx 14cm x 5.5cm, rounding off the opposite corners. I then attached the circles and added the bling and pinched daisies.
For my second card I deviated more from the sketch this time.

The card is the same 15cm square and again printed the sentiment on the computer in green using Mutlu font here. I embossed the panel using a Sizzix embossing folder set called 'Hello Friend' here and added the pearls. I did pay particular attention to the trimming of this panel to make sure it was totoally even, so the pearls would look symmetrical. Lastly I added the roses, I always buy from here
I made this card for a wedding client of mine. Their theme is 'Secret Garden' pastel green, pink and white.

We really hope that this week's challenge proves to be a little less stressful and a lot more fun! So come on all you LIMettes, show us your interpretations of our Clean and Simple sketch!

Hope you are all smiling this week!
Happy crafting
