Week #244 Colour

Morning Limettes
Have you got that Saturday Morning feeling?

Well we hope so as it's a new challenge and a new month too
so first up let us introduce you to our sponsor for October.

As our sponsor for this month Beverley will be offering a prize
of a £15 gift voucher to spend in the Uniko Studio online store.
Do check out the shop HERE to see the brilliant collections.

Onto our challenge and the first week of the month means
Colour week and we are looking for Jewel colours

Here's what the design team came up with and we're looking forward to seeing
your wonderful creations but please remember to keep your designs clean and simple.

Still with the shiny stuff on my desk from last week I used 'jewel' coloured foil
card to die-cut 5 butterflies using the Clearly Besotted: Butterfly Duo die
I've inlaid the mini jewel pieces of topaz, sapphire, ruby, emerald
and amethyst ... that's my thinking anyway! then die-cut a further butterfly
outline to sit on top for added dimension. The sentiment is also CBS:
Sweet Little Sentiments and I've used Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die
which is also inlaid and the Paper Smooches Dots and Dashes to add some
interest to the sides of the purple panel. To finish a couple of sparkly jewel sequins!

On a panel of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock I stamped the flowers from
Stampin' Up's So Very Grateful set and the sentiment from Clearly Besotted's Stylish Flowers set, both in VersaMark ink.  I then heat embossed in Wow!
Opaque Bright White embossing powder and coloured the image with
ProMarkers.  The kraft panel was mounted onto purple cardstock
before being popped up on 3D foam strips.

Back to those Crazy Birds again!  This time I've used shades of amethyst
and gold.  He sits in a Simon Says stitched diecut frame,
The sentiment is from Stampin' Up Age Awareness.

Some time ago I saw a card made with a Crealie Patchwork die and I thought I could do something similar without using that specific die. This Penny Black image was paper pieced using some card I had coloured by smooching Distress Ink and Inka Gold paste. This ruby colour looks really rich and intense. After paper piecing the petals I cut the image with an octagon die and then chopped it into pieces, mounting them with dimensional  pads. The sentiment from Lily of the Valley was attached with a length of twine and an eyelet.

We hope you enjoy the luxurious and opulent colour challenge
and please remember to leave a few encouraging words
for your fellow Limettes - we all love comments!

ShowCASe Week 242

Our Technology challenge had a few people scratching their heads trying to think of ideas, but some really super cards emerged... it certainly was a challenge,  well done everyone who entered.
Here is our
ShowCASe

Following another sketch but perfect for our techy challenge!

Pink Petticoat, LIM, CAS
Often tricky subjects can be overcome  by using computer generated sentiments as Viv did here... this is a really fun one!

Heather
We love the simplicity of Heather's card. Lots of fabulous white space really makes the image pop!

Thank you all!
Do take the ShowCASe badge from the page at the top to display on your blogs, with our thanks.

You have until 10pm BST tonight to enter this week's challenge and a then new one will begin at 8am BST tomorrow!

Week 243 Recipe

It seems that our Technology challenge last week caused as many problems as technology itself can from time to time, but there were some really clever and ingenious cards, so thank you everyone who entered!

For our Recipe this week we would like to to include

SOMETHING SHINY

Lots of things spring to mind and you can choose whatever takes your fancy as long as
it is shiny and part of a Clean and Simple card.... that means unfussy
with lots of white space and minimal layers.

Here are our examples to give you a few ideas.

There are a few shiny things here, the mirri card, the iridescent sequins used as
the shaker element of this card and the little gems attached to the baubles... even the ribbon is shiny! The bauble dies are from Elizabeth Craft and the sentiment from Wplus9.
I started out by die-cutting the chevrons from Clearly Besotted: Geometric Style II,
and the 'Sending' die which is a new purchase from Simon Says Stamp
using some foil cardstock. The 'birthday wishes' is also CBS from their 'Happy Birthday' set
and this is heat-embossed using Hero Arts White EP before mounting on 3d foam
I've added some Doodlebug sequins which luckily matched the foil papers perfectly.

Anita

I started by applying translucent embossing paste through a stencil, MFT Spring Flowers, onto some textured pink cardstock.  It goes on white but dries to a clear shine.  I cut a white cardstock panel slightly smaller than the card base and used a curved Dotted Border die by Avery Elle to create the split.  I stamped the sentiment from Clearly Besotted's Sugar & Spice set and then cut the embossed pink panel to the same width as the panel and adhered it behind, and then cut the entire panel to size before adhering with 3D foam strips.  There is a close up photo of the shine over on my blog.

Anne

The Memory Box bauble is an old favourite that has been well used.
Here the top layer is cut from silver mirri. The bauble is popped up on silicon
glue and a bit of shiny silver cord added behind it.
The Winnie & Walter sentiment is heat embossed with WOW Blueberry.

We hope you enjoy this challenge and hopefully find it a little easier
than the technology one last week! Have some fun and don't forget to
pop around some of your fellow Limettes to leave some friendly feedback!

ShowCASe #241

Morning friends, it's time for us to reveal another selection of
ShowCASe talent following the One Layer Wishing Challenge!

Here goes in order of entry ...

Lovely shading on the dramatic bloom, its off -the-edge layout and bold
sentiment work really well for this card.

A cute frog, super sentiment, but it is the number shape that stands out here
as thinking outside the box.  One layer doesn't have to be square!

Rachel

Super masking has created a really striking, effective card.
Leaving the bunny unshaded adds to the effect.

Please take the showcase badge from the page at the top to add
to your blogs and we hope you'll wear it with pride!

Thanks to everyone for taking part and if you haven't already
there's just a little time left to join in this week's Technology challenge
but a new one will start tomorrow at 8am BST... Hoper you'll join us then.

Week 242 Theme - Technology

Our theme this week is

TECHNOLOGY

What comes to mind with this word?
Love it or hate it, this is a word which is part of modern living...
we couldn't live without it these days although sometimes it's very hard to live with it!

So what can you come up with?
Give your imagination free rein!

Anne

I have a computer generated one layer card for this week's challenge.
I saw something extremely similar on Pinterest, found an on/off button image online and
added the sentiment in problem secretary font. The card is linen textured, tent folded.

I was at a bit of a loss for a while and decided to see if I could make a representation
of a mobile phone, with the bits and bobs I had around me!
I started by cutting a couple of rectangles from black and dull silver card,
rounding the corners with graduated sized Corner Chompers...3/8" for the silver
and 1/4" for the black. Next I cut a rectangle with a Spellbinder rectangle die,
shortening it slightly to fit in the space. For the button I used a flower centre die
and a hole punch, fitting the smaller black circle onto the silver piece.
The microphone at the top was made with the letter i from a Cuttlebug's Babyface alphabet.
The message is also from little alpha die-cuts and the sentiment is computer generated!
Job done!

Sarah

I have to admit this was a mega struggle but in the end I decided to go with 'tech' speak!
Down with the young'uns using 'hash-tags'!
Mama Elephant Landscape Trio dies and Index Card set came in handy especially
as the latter includes a # die! After die-cutting the stitched rectangle I split the panel into 4
using a snow-drift border die. I inked up some cardstock using the same inks as the sentiments
to die-cut 3 hash-tags. The sentiments are from Uniko - All Occasion Sentiments
with 'smile' and 'celebrate' from the brand new set being released today.
The '18' is die-cut using Avery Elle - Count on Us dies and is die-cut 3 times
for added dimension. To finish a few sparkly gems

Anita

I masked off the V shape with post-its and the curves of the logo were created using one
of the straight stripe stamps from Clearly Besotted's 'Basic Stripes' set which I
manipulated into a curve.  The three curves were embossed in Wow! Platinum EP.
Instead of the usual dot at the bottom I changed this for a heart from Stampin' Up's
'Work of Art' set and this was also heat embossed.  The coloured cardstock was cut with
a stitched rectangle and a computer generated sentiment added, cut with a tag die from
Clearly Besotted's 'Tag Along' set.  A few glazed gems were added to accent.

We hope you enjoy the challenge and can't wait to see the results of
technology ideas. Have fun and don't forget to keep your creations clean and simple!

Week 241 One Layer

Who would believe it?
It's One Layer time
This title this time is
WISHING!
You don't necessarily have to have that word on your card, but the sentiment or design should reflect the theme!
Greetings cards are all about sending good wishes to someone, so it shouldn't cause too many problems... the one layer element is another matter of course!

DO remember that white space and try not to add too many embellishments!
Here are our cards

Anita

I stamped and masked the images from Clearly Besotted's Love Quotes II stamp set using Archival ink in Jet Black.  I then coloured the images with some Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens and water.  The sentiment is from the same set and I finished off with a sprinkling of Doodlebug sequins.

My kraft card has embossing paste stars stencilled on from a Memory Box stencil, a Unity sentiment and a Clarity couple stamped and heat embossed.  Hillside added with a Pigma pen.

This is the simplest of cards. A computer generated sentiment and Winter Pines stamp by Deep Red. There are some twinkles on the trees, for which I dabbed a little Stickles here and there, but sadly this doesn't really show up on the photograph. This may well be one of those stand-by type designs which I'll be able to produce quickly should I be short of a few cards at the last minute.
The fonts are VNI-HL Thuphap and Lydian BT.

Sarah
I decided to try out a rustic-type scene with cups and mugs using the 'Warm Wishes'.
set from Clearly Besotted and sentiment from their In The Frame set.
The sentiments, including the hand-drawn line in versamark are heat embossed
in WOW Pale Gold Metallic EP, whilst the mug and cups are embossed
using Hero Arts white EP before water-colouring with distress inks.
To finish ... some extra dots to the cups using a gel pen for more detail!
