Lucky Dip Week 274

April this year has five Saturdays and so we are lucky to be joined by another

LIMette Guest Designer.

We know that this person will be a most popular selection, as she visits practically everyone who contributes to our challenges and leaves a friendly word by way of comment.
Our Lucky Dip Challenge
 is to use

Designer paper in a CAS style.

and our Guest Designer is none other than

This is your chance to use up those snippets of left over paper that have been lurking in drawers and on shelves. Remember that we still need to see lots of white space....
the designer paper CANNOT count as white space!
There's no substitute for bare card!

We hope you'll have fun with this one.
So add your link below and we'll come to visit you!
There will be more to see on the individual Designers' blogs so do pop over to see them and get details of these makes, plus a little additional inspiration!

ShowCASe Week 272

Welcome to another super ShowCASe Limettes!
Week 272
We had some wonderful cards submitted, however
it seems that our Take Three Stamps Challenge caused a few differences of opinion... some people assumed a sentiment stamp didn't count and some just didn't quite manage to count to three!
It was such fun however and here are this week's fabulous choices.

Birgit beautifully stamped one image 3 times in different generations of ink which together with the limited colour palette and white space combined to create a wonderfully CAS card.
One image stamp, one splodge stamp, one sentiment stamp!
1, 2, 3!

 Helen
The glorious cascade of flowers arcing around half of the card is perfectly balanced with the white space around the sentiment. Helen's card is also just one layer.
One sentiment stamp, 2 flower stamps!
1, 2, 3!
The clever use of the inlaid/embossed dies around the image keep this card to a minimal 2 layers. Lisa has really shown what an incredible impact a small stamp can make on a CAS card.
One flower head stamp, one flower stem, one sentiment!
1, 2, 3!
Please take the ShowCASe badge from the page at the top ladies and we hope you'll all join us for a new challenge tomorrow. There's still just a little time to get your thinking caps on for our Saints, Dragons or Heroes challenge... it's quite a tricky one this time to test your mettle!

23 April 2016

Week # 273 Saints and Dragons or Heroes.

For some fun this week our recipe is to include
Saints, Dragons or Heroes.

St. George's Day takes place on April 23rd every year, recognising the patron saint of England, apparently made famous for slaying a dragon and saving a distressed maiden.

There are not usually many celebrations in honour of this day, so this will be our little salute!
You don't have to portray elements of this story, but whatever your imagination conjures up with this theme.
We would however like an explanation if your link is tenuous!
Just have fun!

We hope this gives you some ideas... remember that  there are free downloadable digi images available on the internet should you need to find an image for this challenge. There are often colouring pages for kids which are free to download for personal use.
We would also like to add our congratulations to our wonderful Queen on the occasion of her milestone 90th birthday! She is a hero to many!

Happy Birthday your Majesty!

Just a brief reminder as we have had a few entries recently which were not conforming to the CAS genre
White space, Few Layers, Minimal embellishments!

ShowCASe #271

Morning Limettes! It's that all important time to announce our
ShowCASe choices following the geometric pattern spectacular
last week and once again you knocked us side-ways!

So here goes in order of entry and we just couldn't stop
at Three this week so there's a bonus fourth ShowCASe!

the soft and dreamy inking through Maaike's home made
stencil complements the sentiment perfectly

Sharon found the perfect digital image for the geometric theme.
The classic rubik cube in bright primary colours is such a fun design!

the bold sentiment and brightly coloured hexagons on Rachel's
card combine to create a really crisp and CAS design.

such a cool and CAS design from Rema, the trio of coloured triangles
and perfect placement give this one layer card a really graphic look.

Congratulations on being out ShowCASe this week ladies and please
take a ShowCASe badge from the page at the top of our blog with our thanks.
We hope you'll wear it with pride on your individual blogs.

ShowCASe #270

Morning LIMettes are you ready for the weekly ShowCASe post?
We've had our heads together yet again and deliberated long and hard over
the magnificent creations for last week's 'White Space but NOT white' colour
challenge. Not an easy task even if we had 20 showCASe spots!

So without further ado and in order of entry here we go ...

A mix of vibrant and subtle colours on kraft card always looks
elegant and classy with a beautifully placed sentiment and lots
of delicious 'none white WHITE space'!

From the subtle to the bold, vibrant, fun and shockingly pink! A pop of white
embossing and a 'beautiful' sentiment to complete a CAS perfect card.

A delightful muted coloured cardbase totally sets off the elegant
stamped image in a traditional and sophisticated design.

We hope you'll agree these are a trio of beauty and well worthy of
our showcase. Please pop along to the individual blogs for a closer look
and I'm sure our ladies would love a little congratulatory comment too.

Well done on being our showCASe this week ladies and on behalf of the
Less is More team please take a showCASe badge from the tab at the
top of the page. We hope you'll 'wear' it with pride on your blogs.

There's still time to enter our current One Layer Geometric challenge
which will close at 10pm BST this evening before we announce the new
challenge tomorrow morning at 8am. Hope you'll join us then!

Week # 271 One Layer Card

Good Morning LIMettes!
It's time for another fun
ONE LAYER CARD
challenge!

We know that the one layer challenge no longer scares people as it once did, but just remember to leave some of that all important white space and for this challenge we DON'T want to see any layers!

The theme for this week's cards is
Geometric Shapes or Patterns
Here are our examples for this week and remember that there will be the descriptions of their work, plus some additional cards on the personal blogs of the DT, who would love to have a visit from you!

Anne

We do have a few LIMettes who spend lots of time visiting fellow participants' blogs and leaving friendly comments. This is wonderful and something we have encouraged from the outset of the challenge over 5 years ago! A big thank you to those people and we would like to encourage you all to visit a least a few others... it means a lot!
Thanks!
Enjoy this one and remember
CLEAN AND SIMPLE!
Chrissie will be at the Craft Show at Ally Pally today (Saturday April 9th) so if you are going there be sure to look for her and say Hi! Other LIMettes, Gay and Val will also be there so do come and join the party!

ShowCASe Week #269

We had a fabulous show we had in the gallery for our
Polka Dot challenge
and as ever, choosing was really difficult... in fact this week we have sneaked in an extra one!
So without any further ado here they are in order of submission!
SHOWCASE
These cupcakes look good enough to eat...perfectly CAS with a hint of paper piecing for the polka dots! YUM!

Look at this cheery little number! So bright and clean with that happy daisy and its polka dot centre, backed by even more bright dots.

More bright yellow here, framed by a round polka dot window and lots of white space!

Beautifully crisp, simply designed and perfectly stamped.
Lovely!
Thank you so much ladies, please take the ShowCAse badge from the page at the top with our thanks.
There's still a smidgen of time left to enter this week's 'White space but not white' challenge, but a new challenge will  begin tomorrow morning at 8am BST!
See you then!

Colour Challenge #270

A new month brings back another of our loyal and fabulous Sponsors.
We are delighted to welcome back

UNIKO STUDIO

Uniko
Thank you Bev!

Fabulous stamps so do check them out!
(Chrissie used the fab Uniko Gerbera this week!)

We have another Guest Designer with us this week and we are delighted to welcome Liz to join us. She is a frequent contributor to our challenges and often visits other participants, so we hope that you will give her a warm welcome!
Our challenge this week is

White space but not  WHITE

White Space
An area of the card which has no image, layer or embellishment.
This can be any colour dependent upon the colour of the card blank.
Including or leaving white space is the one most difficult thing for many crafters new to Clean and Simple card making. So be brave and stop adding things to your creations before it's all used up. We will be looking specifically for areas of white space on your submissions, but this time of course we don't want it actually to be white!

(Maybe we should have called it USE  A COLOURED CARD BASE!)

On looking at the thumbnails of some of the cards which are being submitted for this challenge, it seems that some participants don't quite understand the meaning of 'White Space' ! In this case it's not merely a coloured background, but an area of blank base card with no design or patterned paper. Sometimes a large piece of paper or card can be used to change the colour of the front of the card as a couple of our DT have done, but a large proportion of it should be unadorned!
We hope this clarifies things a little!
.
We hope you will enjoy our examples and visit our blogs to find out how they were made and see our additional cards.
GUEST DESIGNER: Liz Cavill

We hope you enjoy this one, if you are unsure of our rules do check out the Guidelines at the top, as entries not adhering to them may sadly be deleted.
