Hello everyone and a Happy Easter to you all!
Yes, you are quite safe to look on here again, acetate week is officially over!
We were in raptures at some of the comments, although we did think that the suggestion that we should be burned at the stake a tad harsh... but very amusing!
We think all in all you enjoyed yourselves in the end, some of you entering with multiple submissions... makes us think we may bring it back again later in the year....GASP!
OK so before we tell you about this week's challenge we told you last week about your name 'LIMettes' so we thought we needed a name too. Karen suggested 'Lady LIMs'
Mandi thought this suited Chrissie, but wasn't sure for herself. So LIM Diva Mandi evolved!
Our challenge this week should allow you to come out from your hiding places as it's an easy recipe

OFF CENTRE
We are looking for cards with little or no symmetry but perfect balance, which doesn't necessarily mean gems in all four corners, or any corners for that matter.
Mandi Diva LIM
Firstly, I printed the sentiment on the computer, judging the positions just 'off centre' by eye.
Fonts are Papyrus and Liorah
Then to make the glitter 'stripes' I used a ruler and wedge glue pen, I simply took a ruler and drew a line, again judging the length and distance apart. This was really random, as you can tell. The butterflies are Stampin Up Cut and emboss 'Beautiful Wings' You can buy here
I cut/embossed 3 lots, Rich Razzlebury, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.
They were attached with PVA and I added gems in black for the bodies, to tie in with the sentiment.
This was my first card, the 'off centre' started with the 3 hexagonal shapes, I then added the daisies and stamped 'Thank you' last of all.

To make this EMBOSS RESIST card...
- I first stamped the music manuscript in Versamark onto white card and heat embossed it using Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.
- Then I stamped the heart using SU Whisper White ink and heat embossed that, again using the clear EP.
- Next came the sponging using a variety of red inks, Barn Door and Fired Brick Distress inks and Adirondack in Cranberry.
- Rubbing over the embossing with a baby wipe removes any excess ink and makes the image ' pop' a little more.
- The sentiment was computer generated using the method described in Week 3, using Champignon font for the script and Andalus for the type (I do have a stamp with this sentiment, but it was much too large for the proportions of this card, hence the computer generated one.)
The image was die cut and mounted using square Nesties
We do hope you are all happier with the challenge this week and can't wait to see what you create... so don't forget...
'Less is More'
Happy crafting
Fabulous cards from you both as always. A nice easy one this week, thank you, should be ok with this as most of mine end up off centre anyway lol.

No matter what the challenge, I never find it 'easy', but I have to say I didn't scream this morning!(actually my card from last week fits the bill - don't suppose I could re-enter it - only joking!). Thanks for a fabulous challenge - your highnesses! x
ReplyDeleteLady LIM and Diva LIM, oh my you do sound posh now lol!great cards again girls and thankyou thankyou for an easier challenge this week!!!! no screaming or hiding when I looked this morning for a change.I think I have a card made already which will qualify nicely, my son's wedding invitations!!!:O) Viv xx
ReplyDeleteI love being off centre (in many ways :-))))
ReplyDeletePhew- I can relax now, was a bit nervous coming to check in this week!!lol Thanks for a great challenge again and some fabulous inspiration- this one should be much easier than the last couple of weeks... famous last words...!! ;) Off to have a think what I can use now... Great names, btw!! :)
ReplyDeletehugs, Rachel x
Hello Lady and Diva, Wow love both entries. Posted a card yesterday which may have fit but need to get it out of my head to think of something new! x
ReplyDeleteHi ladies - love your names!! I'm really missing my weekly go at LIM, but enjoying visiting everyone's blogs. I may have a go at some of them when I get home. However, I think that "off centre" is a bit harder than it sounds :) Have fun all!
ReplyDeleteHey! I wasn't initially ready to "burn you at the stake" for last week's acetate challenge. I very excitedly pulled out my acetate - ready to try something new. Then as it sat on the corner of my craft desk all week, mocking me as absolutely no ideas popped into my head, I began to think "negative" thoughts!!! So ... thank you so much for a "basic" challenge this week (although I have to agree with an earlier comment from Debgem - I think it will be harder than we think to put it together well!!)

Sounds easy - well most projects end up off centre - so how difficult can it be to plan it that way!! Love the DT cards Lady and Diva (and the titles lol). Have a great weekend. Carol x

Hello ~ terrific cards everyone! I wrote in my blog that this challenge was perfect for me since I tend to normally be "a little off" :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure why (since it's not been the case thus far), but I really thought I was going to pop a card out in no time for this "off-center" challenge. That SO didn't happen for me! LOL! I keep playing though, because you two really make me stretch my imagination! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards! This is my first time entering here, great theme and looking forward to more!

ReplyDeleteSarah
No gasping this week! I did end up with pearls in four corners to hide my miserable attempts at joining lines on the frame... oh well. In the end, it turned out OK. I really enjoy this weekly fix! Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for this beautiful idea.
ReplyDeleteTo be "off centre" in my daily life is much harder than to play with acetat ;)

Whoops! Chrissie just let me know that I failed to follow the rules since I entered my card into more than 5 challenges. So sorry 'bout that! Usually I'm good at reading the rules before submitting my card but I obviously missed that. Thanks for letting me know, Chrissie. In the future I'll try to pay more attention! :-)
ReplyDeleteFab cards again Chrissie and Mandi,a late entry from me and a sorry I haven't had chance to visit the other fab entries this week, all these bank hols and visiting family and I need a few extra hours in the day.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards LIMettes, Sorry I haven't had time to comment this time around, I too have a late entry and didn't make it in time to upload However is showing on my blog. Looking forward to the new challenge :O)
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I've allowed time to run away with me and missed out on this week's challenge - thought I get something done today but apart from being a taxi service for my daughter I've been glued to the wedding on the TV - wasn't intending to watch so much but just got hooked and then I ran out of time :(
