Week 14 - Colour Challenge - White on White

Well here we are again, it's Saturday and that means a new challenge. Before we tell you what it is we want to say huge thanks for all your continued support and encouragement week after week. The multiple entries prove the LIMette dedication and loyalty.
So it's week 14 and the first challenge of the month which means 'Colour'
This week we want to see
WHITE ON WHITE
You will have come across this before, but we want to stress we do mean WHITE on WHITE, no
coloured images or additions, with the exception of outlines!

These are one of the most difficult to photograph, but photos still look better than scanning, as they become so 'bleached' and seem to have no life,
We are sponsored this month by
The owner, Cathy is generously offering 3 digi sets from her fabulous range for this month's winner.

Here is Mandi first this week

My card is A5 [A4 folded in half] I added the embossed panel at the bottom and added the 'Wedding' die cut letters. They are from a Sizzix set called Cherish. I think they work well with the style of the rolled roses.
They alphabet is rather 1920's and the alphabet is too!
They roses are my FAV at the moment, they are so effective.
The way I prepare mine is to cut the die swirl shape and then curl a bit with my scoring tool to slightly shape the end to assist in the commencement of the rolling. I then roll it around my Piercing tool as it makes for a more even roll with no creases. Once fully rolled the flower sits on the little centre. I glue it together with a blob of PVA.
The centres have a 'branch' of a pearl stem I cut one in four and added 3 to the first flower, then one to the  smaller rose. A brilliant glue to do this is Tombow.
The leaves are Crealies
For this card I used an image from Paper Garden Projects, our sponsor for this month's challenges.
This image is from the Spring Trees set and is of dogwood.
As you can see EVERYTHING is White on White!
To add interest, there's lots of embossing and I have actually painted with Pearly Paints and white watercolour as well as  adding Crystal Glamour dust to the petals.
The dies used are Marianne's Creatables and a Cuttlebug die with Cuttlebug embossing folders.

I used my Swiss Dots embossing folder extended to fit a wider area of cardstock.

  • Insert the card close to the left edge of the folder centralising the design at the top and bottom of the card

  • Run the folder through the machine with the appropriate sandwich for your make of die cutter
  • DO NOT WIND THROUGH COMPLETELY only wind as far as the second edge of the folder, then WIND BACK.
  • Take the card out of the folder and re-position it at the other side of the folder matching the already embossed dots with those in the folder, where they overlap.
  • Run through the machine once more only going as far as the the middle of the folder then WIND BACK

The reason for not running the folder through the machine completely is to avoid  an embossed line on the card from the edge of the folder, hence the reason for rolling through up to the edge and then back again.

Now it's your turn... remember we want WHITE ON WHITE... no extraneous colours, we know you can come up with the goods!
To all those of you who visited our personal blogs to leave comments, thank you SO much, it means a great deal to us.

  2. Awesome card, this... love it's pristine appearance. By the way, I am a big fan of Less Is More... I think it could be voted as one of the best challenge blogs if not THE best!

I have still not participated but will do for sure... but I have managed to comment on many of your participants and I do enjoy seeing the cards entries.

Happy crafting and may your blog grow from strength to strength...

  47. Very beautiful and interesting cards this time. It is interesting how many people filled the card up with "something" instead of leaving spaces and how few used a stamp and heat embossing.

  51. All I can say is WOW.... I can't believe how many different things you can do when just limited to one colour.... if you can say white is a colour, but that's another thing. I have had so much fun adding myself to all sorts of blogs that quite a few of the girls have, just so I can go back & see how they are going & see what they are creating. Love all the cards.... Just sorry I don't get to every blog to say something about each & every one, to those I didn't get to.... I love them all, didn't know there was so much talent out there!!!!

First I didn't read the rules properly and entered too many challenges, then I enter another card only to find that blogger has decided to swallow it :o I've now entered the same card again so that you can actually see it though of course it means it appears twice. Please delete 229,the origional post.
